New Rule for New Credit Card Applications with Bank Of America

Bank Of America has a new rule for approvals of new Credit Cared applications. The rule went into effect in October 2017.

According to this new rule, you will only be approved for a maximum of:

  • 2 new Bank of America cards within a 2-month period
  • 3 new Bank of America cards within a 12-month period
  • 4 new Bank of America cards within a 24-month period

The new rule unofficially called: BOA 2/3/4

Unlike the Chase 5/24 rule, this rule does not appear to consider cards from other banks. If your application goes pending and needs manual review, it is always possible that a human might additionally consider the number of accounts you have opened with other banks. Interestingly, business cards do not count towards this rule.

For a complete list of rules for approvals of new Credit Cared applications see the Unofficial Limitations for New Credit Card Applications blog post.

Interesting tidbit out of ALASKA AIR annual reports filing with SEC 10-K on 02/11/2016

AlaskaAir

Every year publicly traded companies have to file FORM 10-K Annual report with UNITED STATES SECURITIES AND EXCHANGE COMMISSION (SEC).

ALASKA AIR GROUP, INC. (Alaska Air) filed this Form 10-K on 02/11/2016. The form is public information and can be found here:  10-K ALASKA AIR GROUP, INC.

Apparently, Alaska Air “Mileage Plan™ revenues represent approximately 11% of Air Group’s total revenues. Furthermore, our Mileage Plan™ helps drive more revenue by attaining new customers and building customer loyalty through the benefits that we provide. The Mileage Plan™ provides more value per dollar spent on the Alaska Airlines Visa Signature card”. It is good that Company values Loyalty Program. Plus they a planning to increase bonus miles awarded by Alaska Airlines Signature Visa card from current 25,000 to 30,000 after spending $1,000 in first 3 month in May 2016.

It does not sounds like the Alaska Airlines Visa® Business Card will have an incised bonus. Currently it offers 25,000 Bonus Alaska Airlines miles after your first purchase with $75 annual fee (not waved first year).

Company “strategy is to focus on serving a few key markets, including Seattle, Los Angeles, Anchorage, Portland, and Hawaii . A significant portion of our flights occur to and from our Seattle hub. In 2015, passengers to and from Seattle accounted for 61% of our total passengers.”
